Why Donate to LCTA?

  • Your gift supports continued development and growth of a system of connected, multi-use recreational trails throughout Linn County, it helps “Make Trails Happen.”
  • Trails are a critical element in the vitality of our community. Most obviously, trails provide recreational benefits, but trails also provide significant economic development, health, transportation, and environmental benefits. They create positive community pride and identity, are accessible to all, and create financial returns that far exceed public investments.
  • More than 90% of your gift goes directly to trail development. Most of the rest is used to inform and advocate for the trail network.

Make Trails Happen with Benefits

Never too early to be early thinking about taxes – one of the two assurances in life 🙂
Check with your financial adviser or accountant, but . . . your donation to LCTA, a 501(c)(3) organization, may be tax deductible
  1. A Qualified Charitable Contribution (QCD) directly from your traditional IRA to your charity of choice may avoid taxes on that withdrawal once you reach age 70-1/2. It also may count against any Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for which you may be obligated.
  2. A charitable contribution from a Donor Advised Fund seeded with money from your IRA may avoid taxes on the IRA withdrawal(s).
  3. Charitable contributions that you make directly to LCTA may also be deductible if you itemize deductions on your IRS Form 1040.
  4. Appreciated stock donated directly to a qualified charity may avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciation and may be tax deductible if the stock has been held for at least a year. Depositing the stock into a donor-advised fund may also achieve these benefits.
LCTA is excited about the increasing number of donations we are receiving from individuals through financial institutions and donor advised funds. LCTA is also set up to receive stock donations.
Seek your financial adviser’s or accountant’s advice, but don’t overlook the possible tax benefits of a donation to LCTA . . .
