Mayors Bike Ride Event

Please plan to join LCTA for the annual Mayors' Bike Ride on Labor Day, Monday, September 3rd.  There will be an 8 mile route and a 2.5 mile route.  Registration begins at 9AM in Ellis Park (near the pool pavillion) and the ride starts at 10AM.  The event is free, but donations to Linn County Trails Association are accepted.  For full details, visit here: https://linncountytrails.org/event/linn-county-mayors-bike-ride-2/


Event on Trail

On Saturday, June 9th, a run/walk race will take place in downtown Cedar Rapids.  Part of the route will be on the Cedar River Trail from the GreatAmerica Building to just past Sokol Park.  The event organizers anticipate 700 runners/walkers on the trail from 9:30AM-11:00AM.

Linn Area Mountain Bike Association (LAMBA) will be planting seedling trees at Beverly Park this Saturday and Monday.  If you have time, please come out to help.  LAMBA is a strong trail supporter and a good friend of LCTA

Blue Zones Tomorrow!!

“Flood the Street” for Blue Zone Site Visit on March 1

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – February 24, 2012 – Mayor Ron Corbett invites everyone who lives, works or plays in Cedar Rapids to join him in welcoming the Blue Zones Project Team to our community by “flooding the street” with smiling faces on Thursday, March 1, from 7:20 to 8:00 a.m. near the CSPS/Legion Arts Hall at 1103 Third Street SE.

“I encourage everyone to join us in the New Bohemia District to demonstrate our commitment to becoming a Blue Zone Community,” said Mayor Corbett. “Please wear blue clothing, wave welcome signs and bring your friends to join the welcoming party.”

Attendees are not encouraged to actually stand in the street. Instead, please stand on nearby sidewalks.


Volunteer Opportunity

Interested in volunteering, beautifying trails and making a positive difference in nature?  Consider helping the City of Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department spread prairie seeds at Prairie Park Fishery.  On Tuesday, March 6th at 9AM, city staff will be working with a group of student volunteers from Kirkwood Community College to spread prairie seeds.  No RSVP necessary.  No tools necessary, but please dress for the weather!  For any questions about the project, please contact: Daniel Gibbins, [email protected].

Volunteers Needed!

LCTA Supporters - we need your help!

LCTA partners with many municipalities to support trail development and maintenance.  The City of Cedar Rapids has requested LCTA's help in spreading prairie seed at Prairie Park Fishery - this Saturday, January 14th at 10AM.  You will want to dress warm and bring gloves, but no experience necessary to help with this important project!  No RSVPs required, just show up at 10AM this Saturday.  All ages invited - your help would be greatly appreciated!


Reminder! LCTA Annual Event

Please join the LCTA Board of Directors in celebrating the end of another successful year and an evening of networking. 

The annual event is scheduled for Monday, December 12th, 5-7PM at Parlor City.  Beer, pop, and pizza will be provided. There is no cost to attend, however, donations are appreciated. 

Please stop by and meet your LCTA board members, fellow LCTA supporters and everyone who has an interest in trail development!  Hope to see you on December 12th!


Take a Kid Mountain Biking

On Saturday, October 1st, 2011 from 11:30AM - 1:30PM LAMBA will be sponsoring the IMBA Take a Kid Mt. Biking Day at Beverly Park. Bring the kids out for a fun day of riding small obstacles and the trails near the parking lot. Also, feel free to take your kids on a tour of the whole park.
A grill will be available for anything you want to bring for lunch.
*Parents, please plan to stay at the park while your child is riding.


Volunteers Needed! Mayors' Bike Ride!

LCTA is asking for volunteers to assist with the execution of the Linn County Mayors' Bike Ride.  The event starts at 9AM and volunteers are needed between 8-1pm.  Volunteers to act as route monitors, ride shepards and assist with registration and tear down are appreciated!  If available and interested, please email Kari Lammer, [email protected]
