CVNT South – Sokol Park to Tait Cummins
Update(05/27/21) – The Cedar Valley Nature Trail through the Czech Village District has reopened, following a closure associated with flood control work currently underway. The on-street bike detour that was established on C Street SW between 17th Avenue and Bowling Street will be removed this weekend.
Update (04/22/21) – The section of the trail between Sokol Park (near the Lion Bridge) and A St. SW (Mt. Trashmore entrance) will be closed for about two months to construct an underground stormwater gate as part of the ongoing flood control projects. A detour has been provided on C Street SW around this closure. Please see the detour route picture below.
The previous trail closure between A St. SW and Tait Cummins park has been reopened, but the surface of the trail in some areas contains loose gravel, and trail users with narrow tire bicycles may want to walk them across this section.
3/31/21 – The Cedar Rapids Parks Department has announced that the Cedar Valley Nature Trail is currently closed between the Tait Cummins trailhead and the A Street trailhead (near the Linn County Solid Waste facility), for a section of pavement repairs. A detour has been established on C Street SW. An update on the timeline will be released once a schedule for repairs is finalized. A map of the affected section of trail, and a proposed detour:
