Cedar Valley Nature Trail in Buchanan and Black Hawk Counties:
Wolf Creek Bridge at La Porte City is closed. It is possible to ride around the closed bridge on 4th St./La Porte Rd./Hwy 218, but caution should be used.
There is a 150-foot blowout located ½ mile north of the Gilbertville Depot. There is no detour for this blowout, but people are finding their way around it. This is damage from the 2016 flood. There are 12 other edge washouts associated with that flood damage but those are flagged and can be ridden around. FEMA has come through with funding for the 2016 damage. Black Hawk County has signed contracts to begin repair and the preconstruction meeting is set for May 29th 2018. The construction company has 40 working days to complete the project. There will likely be closures as the work is being completed.
The McFarlane Park Trail Bridge was opened on May 4th, 2013.
Upcoming Construction in Linn County:
Linn County (southern end) does not have any closures at this time but there are two things to be aware of:
Linn County Conservation staff is currently grooming the limestone portion of the trail north of Center Point. No closures involved, but trail users may encounter grooming activity on the trail, so use caution when work is going on to make sure staff sees you. This work will take a couple of weeks.
The East Blue Creek Bridge replacement project will start in early July. This will involve a closure of the trail for 80 working days.
