Celebrate Hoover Nature Trail Grand Opening June 3

ELY, IA – Linn County, the City of Ely and the Linn County Trails Association will celebrate the grand opening of the Hoover Nature Trail on Friday, June 3 at 2 p.m. in Ely City Park with a public trail connecting ceremony. The event will kick off National Trails Day on June 4. Local elected officials will speak prior to the symbolic trail connecting ceremony.

“We are so excited to celebrate the grand opening of the Hoover Nature Trail. This is a culmination of years of hard work and cooperation by local governments, land owners and trail advocates,” said Lu Barron, Linn County Supervisor and Vice Chairwoman of the Linn County Conservation Board. “We all worked together to get here, and we’re looking forward to the celebration and use of the trail.”

Parking at the grand opening event may be limited. Attendees are welcome to ride their bicycles to the event and enjoy the trail following the ceremony.

The Hoover Nature Trail extends south from the Cedar River Trail in Cedar Rapids through Ely to the Linn County / Johnson County border. The trail then continues north through the northeastern corner of Benton County and northward through Black Hawk County.
